In order to check farm fires due to paddy stubble burning, the district administration is providing lists of farm machineries available with cooperative societies at every village. These lists will be widely made available in public domain to farmers, officers deputed in villages to check burning as well as the police.
Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mrs Punamdeep Kaur said while addressing a joint meeting of civil and police administration conducted to ensure synchronization in teams and leaving no stone unturned to stop stubble burning. SSP Mr Sandeep Malik too was present.
She directed the agriculture department to get more than 1000 copies of these lists printed so that farmers are well aware of the machineries available near their farms. Laying special emphasis on 25 hotspot villages identified in the district, she added that strict vigil be kept on the farms so that no farm fire incidence is reported.
Deputy Commissioner directed the civil and police officials to maintain liaison with farmers and win over them to such an extent that every farmer vows not to burn stubble. She added that already village wise whatsapp groups are being made that shall include farmers, agriculture officials, civil and police officials that will together keep an eye on the farm fires.
SSP Mr Sandeep Malik said that each police officer designated at respective village should ensure that no stubble burning incidence is reported.
Also meetings are being conducted with commission agents, farmers and other stake holders raising awareness against the menace. ADC (G) Latif Ahmed today conducted meting at village Sehna, tehsildar and naib tehsildar Tapa conducted meeting with Rureke Kalan farmers, tehsildar Tapa conducted meeting with Pakho Kalan farmers. Also school level awareness acvivities are being conducted to drive home the message against paddy stubble burning through the children.
ADC (G) Latif Ahmed, ADC (G) Satwant Singh, SDM Barnala Gurbir Singh Kohli, SDM Mehal Kalan Harkanwaljit Singh, SDM Tapa Rishabh, SP (H) Hans Raj, SP Gurjot Singh, DSP Paramjit Singh Doad, DSP Satvir Singh, Kamlajit Singh, Baljit Singh, SHOs and other senior officers were also present.
