Barnala, June 7
All the ponds lying in jursidiction of Barnala assembly constituency will be renovated on lines of Thapar Model.
The Minister for Water Resources, Environment and Sports Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said while laying the foundation stone for renovation of pond as Thapar model at village Thulewal at a cost of about Rs 34 lakh. He said that the renovation work of the pond as Thapar model has been started in village Farwahi in the past. Apart from this, with the onset of project at village Jhalur, the area’s old issue has also been solved. He added that one by one all the villages in Barnala constituency will get their ponds renovated into Thapar Model so that villagers get huge respite from dirty water issues.
He said that apart from this, canal department works worth Rs 80 crore were being carried out in Barnala constituency in the first year of governmentitself, which included the work of fixing the trenches, laying pipelines, digging etc.
District Planning Committee Chairman Gurdeep Singh Bath, Improvement Chairman Ram Tirath Manna, Assistant Commissioner Sukhpal Singh, OSD Hasanpreet Bhardwaj and other officials were present on the occasion.
