Rs. 1.14 cr to be spent on removing decades-old grain market garbage dump: Meet Hayer
*Kicks off work; 32K tonne garbage to be disposed of; yard to be built to aid farmers
Barnala, March 6
The decades-old garbage dump in the grain market Barnala will be cleared with a project worth Rs 1.14 crore, where a yard will be built to aid farmers in the wheat/paddy season.
Member Parliament Sangrur Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer kicks off the project today. He said that the garbage dump was a major problem of the city, where about 32,127 tons of garbage is lying and this dump has occupied more than 3 acres of land.Tender of Rs.1.14 crore has been allotted to remove this garbage dump. Under this project, the garbage will be segregated. Plastic polythene will be used as fuel for different factories and the soil will be used for road construction.
He said that the city residents were facing a lot of problems due to the garbage dumps in the grain market. Now, with this project, the city residents will get a big relief.
He said that the government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann bestowed number of funds for the development in district Barnala. Various development project are being run in Barnala including sewage and water supply projects in the city.
Parminder Singh Bhangu, Chairman of Market Committee Barnala, Councilor Rupinder Singh, Executive Officer Vishaldeep, Sanitary Inspector Ankush Singla, Secretary Market Committee Barnala Kulwinder Singh Bhullar and other dignitaries were present.
