For the prosperity of the sports sector, the Punjab government is taking concrete steps and "Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan"
is a revolution in the sports sector. With this, Punjab will succeed in becoming the number one in the country again in sports.
MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai expressed these views here at the office of the District Sports Officer, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib while giving a rousing welcome to the "Torch Relay" of the third edition of "Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan", 2024-25.
MLA said that this "Torch Relay"
was started from district Ludhiana and while passing through various districts it has arrived at Fatehgarh Sahib. Fatehgarh Sahib district is the 14th district of the state where the "Torch Relay" has entered from District SAS Nagar. He said that the first step to make Rangla Punjab is sports, under which this initiative has been taken.
The Indian hockey team has won a medal in the Olympics and a large number of players in that team are Punjabis. He said that Punjabis are about 02 percent in India, but the participation of Punjabis in sports is about 18 percent, which is a matter of pride.
The MLA said that soon up-to-date grounds and stadiums will become part of the Constituency. The Punjab government is providing facilities to the players at the ground level. Special attention is being given to the diet of the sportspersons. Those who perform well in sports are given good prizes and high positions in the government sector. He told that a high-tech common stadium for various sports would come up at
Kotla Bajwara.
The MLA said that the officials have been instructed to make adequate arrangements for refreshments, food, accommodation and security for the sportspersons for the competitions to be held in the district. The cleanliness of the playgrounds should be ensured.
The officials have been told that the players, coaches and anyone related to these games should not face any kind of problem. It should be ensured that medical teams are deployed at all places related to the sports.
On this occasion, he also listened to the problems of parents and coaches and assured to solve them. He said the necessary separate toilets for sportspersons at the office of District Sports Officer, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib will be built and drinking water problems will be resolved.
The MLA said that under this edition the block-level games in the district Fatehgarh Sahib would be organized from September 01, 2024, to September 10, 2024, district-level games from September 15, 2024, to September 22, 2024, and the state-level games would be held from 11 October 11, 2024, to November 09, 2024.
District Sports Officer, Gurdeep Kaur said that the online registration link for these sports is https://eservices.punjab.gov.in.
These games would be conducted under different categories which include under-14, under-17, under-21, 21 to 40 years open group, 41 to 50 years open group and above 50 years players open group.
District Sports Officer, Gurdeep Kaur, Senior Basketball Coach Rahuldeep Singh and all the officials of the Sports Department appealed to the residents of the district to participate in these games.
