Vocational Training on Value Addition of Winter Vegetables and Fruits concludes at KVK

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fatehgarh Sahib conducted 5 days Vocational Training programme on Value addition of winter vegetables and fruits at KVK from 4 to 8 December 2023. The programme started with the welcome address by Dr.Vipan Kumar Rampal, Associate Director (Training). In his opening remarks he oriented the participants on the importance of value addition of seasonal fruits and vegetables at home. Dr.Manisha Bhatia Assistant Professor (Home Science) provided information on various aspects of value addition of vegetables and fruits including selection and storage of food items, importance of maintaining cleanliness in kitchen, food labelling, FSSAI. Demonstrations on preparation of apple jam, mixed fruit jam, amla chutney, amla candy, amlamurabba, mixed vegetable pickle, mushroom pickle, tomato sauce, spinach burfi were given to the participants. Methods of drying seasonal vegetables using solar dryer was also shared with the participants. The vocational training programme concluded with the motivation to the trainees to adopt various techniques of value addition not only to provide healthy and nutritious food to the family members but also to adopt it as enterprise to add income to their families
