Gurdaspur, June 19 ( ) - Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, the district administration has taken a new initiative to curb the menace of drugs and take concrete steps to eliminate this evil from the root, and has established a 'Nsha Mukti Kendra' in front of the Sewa Kendra at the District Administrative Complex, Gurdaspur. Along with setting up this drug addiction control center it has issued a toll free help line number 1800-180-1852 which is providing its services 24 hours and all days of the week.
Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that anyone can give information about drug traffickers and drug addicts on the help line number of this drug addiction control center. He said that the identity of the person giving the information will be kept completely confidential. He said that calls received on this helpline number are dealt with immediately and strict legal action is taken against anyone who smuggles drugs. He said that along with this, the drug addicts who are informed at the Drug Addiction Control Center are given free treatment by the district administration.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that the nodal officer of this drug addiction control center has been appointed District Town Planner Gurdaspur Mr. Surinder Kumar. Along with this, 15 other employees have been assigned rotation wise duties in this centre. These officers and employees record the details of the all calls/complaints received at the control room in the register and at the same time send it to the officers of the concerned departments for action.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the residents of the district to share the information of drug traffickers on the toll-free number 1800-180-1852 of the Drug Addiction Control Center while supporting the drug addiction campaign so that strict action can be taken against the elements who are spreading the poison of drugs in the society.
