Agriculture Department Cancels Fertilizer Dealer’s License for Unauthorized Stocking
Strict Action Promised Against Hoarders and Black Market Activities: Deputy Commissioner
Patiala, November 9:
- The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, is intensifying efforts to protect farmers from exploitation and ensure the smooth availability of essential fertilizers like DAP. In a recent inspection, the license of M/s Sharda Agro Chemicals in Ghagga was revoked due to unauthorized stockpiling of fertilizers.
- Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Jaswinder Singh stated that, following Dr. Preeti Yadav directives, a district-wide inspection of fertilizer dealers is underway. During the inspection of M/s Sharda Agro Chemicals, it was discovered that the firm held additional stock of urea and other fertilizers without updating its license. This unauthorized inventory violated the terms of their fertilizer license and Section 8 of the Fertilizer Control Order of 1985.
- As a result, the firm's sales operations were immediately suspended, and its license has been officially canceled.
- Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav reiterated that monitoring teams are working continuously across Patiala district to oversee the distribution of seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers. She emphasized that any attempt to exploit farmers will not be tolerated, and warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found engaging in illegal practices.
