Project for government school students regarding Anemia free started giving positive results: Jitendra Jorwal
29 students tested Anemic free in the latest lab report

The project initiated by the district administration to make the students of government schools of district Sangrur free from anemia have started giving positive results. While chairing a review meeting on the progress of this project here at the District Administrative Complex, Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal said that initially, it was taken as a pilot project in 21 government schools of the district and iron and folic acid tablets were being administered to the school students, in coordination with the Health and Education Department, apart from developing kitchen gardens in all schools to make the mid-day meal nutritious. The Deputy Commissioner said that the blood samples of anemic students of the 21 government schools were sent for testing and till now, reports 29 students of 2 schools has shown improvement in their blood levels. He said that the children of these schools under Dhuri health block were suffering from anemia earlier, but in the current lab report, they have been found free of anemia.
Deputy Commissioner said that it was a good sign in the direction of preventing anemia and other diseases with continuous monitoring of children's health and soon the blood test results of students of other schools would also be positive. The Deputy Commissioner said that now these projects were running in all the government schools of the district to ensure that no student would suffer from anemia. He said that a balanced diet has a good effect on the lifestyle of children and it was the responsibility of teachers as well as parents to raise awareness about health along with education of their children and eradicate anemia.
On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Varjit Walia, Civil Surgeon Dr. Kirpal Singh, District School Health Medical Officer Dr. Amanjot, Project Nodal Officer Manjot Kaur, District Program Officer Pradeep Gill, DDF Megha Chaudhary were also present.
