The Member of Parliament Sangrur Mr Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today laid the foundation stone of developmental projects worth Rs 9.50 crores in Barnala area.
While laying foundation stone of the fourth floor of District Administrative Complex at Barnala, the MP said that an additional storey is being added to the building at a cost of Rs 6.33 cr. With the construction of this new storey, the government offices scattered over the city will get centralized at DAC complex. “This would help people to have access to all government services under the same roof,” he said.
Flanked by Deputy Commissioner Punamdeep Kaur and other senior functionaries of the district he said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government was committed to usher in unprecedented development in the state. He said that earlier Barnala has never got such a large number of developmental projects and funds, the way it's getting under the regime of Mann government.
While talking to the media persons he added that today he laid foundation stones of projects worth Rs 9.50 cr. In the next few days he shall also be laying the foundation stone of a drinking water and sewage project worth Rs 104 cr in the district of which Rs 87 cr will be spent in Barnala assembly constituency only.
Earlier, fulfilling the long pending demand of tubewell connection for drinking water purposes at Handiaya, the MP today laid the foundation of Rs 47.85 lakhs of project.
He also laid the foundation stone of modernization of Guru Teg Bahadur Stadium at a cost of Rs 32.50 lakhs that will create more infrastructure for the players of Handiaya who have evinced keen interest in basketball and netball sports. Speaking at the event he said that the Punjab government is aggressively promoting sports with the sole aim of guiding its young generation. As a part of this endeavor, Mr Bhagwant Singh Mann led government is creating sports nurseries and giving government jobs and other facilities to sports persons.
He also laid the foundation stone of developmental works worth Rs 50.75 lakhs at Shaheed Jeeta Singh Nagar. It shall entail laying of interlocking tiles in the streets and construction of a park.
