Ramamandi Road: From Garbage Heaps to a Cleanliness Benchmark
Jalandhar Administration’s efforts yield transformative results
Jalandhar, November 18-
Jalandhar’s Ramamandi-Nangalshama Road, once infamous for its garbage heaps, has undergone a remarkable transformation, setting new standards in cleanliness. Thanks to the concerted efforts of the Jalandhar District Administration and Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ), this road is now a shining example of effective waste management and urban beautification.
Health Officer Dr. Shri Krishan revealed that Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gautam Jain has taken swift action to address the persistent issue. A multi-pronged strategy was devised, including round-the-clock monitoring and dedicated garbage collection. Four trollies were deployed to manage waste collection effectively, while MC Police enforced cleanliness from 6 PM to midnight to deter littering.
A significant milestone was the removal of a massive garbage dump at Nangal Shama, where over 20 tonnes of waste were previously collected daily. The site has been revitalized with greenery and concrete tiles, enhancing its aesthetic appeal. The entire stretch from Ramamandi Chowk to Nangal Shama is now garbage-free, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal commended MCJ for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing that this proactive approach will pave the way for a cleaner, greener Jalandhar. He urged citizens to support the initiative by segregating waste and avoiding littering.
The transformation of Ramamandi Road underscores the power of collective action, serving as an inspiration for other urban areas striving for sustainable cleanliness.
