Vehicles to be Blacklisted for Non-Payment of Challan Fines: RTA
Patiala, March 26: Ravinder Singh Gill, Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Patiala, said that vehicles violating the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, are issued Challan fines across the state. If these fines are not settled within 90 days as per Rule 167 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, the department will blacklist the vehicles.
He explained that blacklisted vehicles are ineligible for essential government services, including insurance, pollution certificates, and vehicle registration.
Gill urged all vehicle owners to clear their pending Challan fines promptly at the office of the Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Patiala, to avoid blacklisting. Non-payment will lead to strict action and blacklisting of the vehicle.
