In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested a female drug smuggler and recovered 4.8 kg of ganja (cannabis) during a special operation in the Maksuda area.
The accused has been identified as Shivani Kumari, wife of Shahid Abdul, a resident of Nawabganj, District Katyar (Bihar), currently residing near the Railway Station on Kapurthala Road, Kartarpur.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that the operation was conducted under the supervision of SP Investigation Jasrup Kaur Bath, IPS, and DSP Surinder Pal Dhogadi, of Sub-Division Kartarpur.
"Based on specific reliable inputs, a special police team led by Sub-Inspector Balbir Singh, SHO Police Station Maqusdan, conducted a targeted search operation in village Saraikhas in Amanatpur area. The team intercepted the accused who was found carrying a suspicious plastic bag. Upon searching, 4.8 kg of ganja was recovered from her possession," disclosed SSP Khakh.
A case under Sections 20, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Maksuda (FIR No. 30 dated 15.02.2025). The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the Honorable Court to seek police remand.
"During interrogation, police team aims to uncover the entire drug supply chain, including both the source of the contraband and its intended recipients. The team expects significant revelations during the course of investigation," added SSP Khakh.
This operation is part of Jalandhar Rural Police's ongoing intensive campaign against drug trafficking in the region.
