North Zone Cultural Center Plays a Key Role in the Saras Mela

The North Zone Cultural Center has brought artists from different states of India to the Saras Mela, where they entertain thousands of visitors daily with vibrant cultural performances on stage. At the same time, Been Jogis enthrall visitors with their mesmerizing tunes, while Bahurupiyas (impersonators) entertain children with their lively performances. Assistant Director of NZCC, Ravinder Sharma, stated that over 80 artists from various states have been showcasing their performances since the Mela began on February 14. Additionally, four Bahurupiyas are roaming the fairgrounds, engaging the public, especially children. A 10-member troupe of Been Jogis from Faridabad, Haryana, captivates audiences with their enchanting melodies.
Ram Avatar, a member of the Been Jogis troupe, shared that his group has practiced this traditional art form for generations. They regularly perform at various Saras, craft, and regional fairs across India. He praised the Patiala Saras Mela, noting that visitors here deeply respect their art.
Anuprita Johal, the Mela officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), highlighted that under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, artisans, craftsmen, and artists from far and wide have received a warm welcome from the people of Patiala. She mentioned that the fair features over 150 stalls in different tents and 60 stalls in the open ground, attracting thousands of visitors who shop daily. She encouraged the people of Patiala to attend the fair in large numbers and extend their support to the talented artists and artisans from across India and beyond.
