The Department of Anesthesia at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences hosted the Continuing Medical Education (CME) event and workshop CARE: Current Advances in Regional Anesthesia for the Elderly. This landmark event brought together eminent faculty from renowned institutions, including PGIMER, Chandigarh; GMCH 32; HBCHRC; PILBS; Fortis Hospital; Max Hospital; and several other prestigious healthcare centers.
Guided by the Director Principal, Dr. BhavneetBharti, CARE-2024 attracted over 60 delegates who gathered to advance their knowledge and skills in geriatric anesthesia. Dr. Y.K. Batra, Senior Director of Max Hospital, Mohali, graced the event as Chief Guest, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in elevating the standards of geriatric care.
The program, led by Dr. Puja Saxena, Head of the Department of Anesthesia, began with lectures and discussions on safe anesthesia practices for elderly patients. Experts presented insights on the latest techniques, safety protocols, and emerging trends in geriatric anesthesia care. Adding to the academic vigor, resident doctors participated in e-poster and e-paper competitions, showcasing research and innovations in the field.
Following the CME, attendees participated in a hands-on ultrasound-guided workshop where they practiced administering innovative nerve blocks. Led by distinguished faculty , the workshop allowed participants to refine their skills in utilizing ultrasound for more precise, patient-centeredanesthesia procedures, tailored specifically for the elderly.
The event was a resounding success, enhancing participants' expertise in regional anesthesia and fostering collaborative learning. CARE-2024 marks a significant step forward in ensuring safe and effective anesthesia care for elderly patients, demonstrating the commitment of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences to advancing medical education and geriatric care.
